BNP–Jamaat Clash in Zinaigati, Sherpur Leaves 2 Dead, 20 Injured

A violent clash broke out between activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami in Zinaigati upazila of Sherpur district during an election manifesto program, leaving two people dead and at least 20 others injured.
What Happened
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place in the Khatir area while an election manifesto event was underway. A verbal dispute between the two groups quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
Supporters from both sides used sticks and locally made weapons, turning the area into a battleground and creating panic among local residents.
Injured and Medical Response
Several of the injured remain in critical condition. They were taken to Zinaigati Upazila Health Complex and later transferred to Sherpur Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment.
Administration Steps
Police and Bangladesh Army personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional forces have been deployed in the area to prevent further violence.
Officials said an investigation is ongoing and legal action will be taken against those involved.

Local residents expressed fear and demanded immediate action to restore peace and ensure justice.
