Seat Sharing Dispute Creates Uncertainty Over Mamunul Haque and Chormonai Pir in Islamist Political Front

As the national elections approach, tensions over seat sharing have sparked fears of a potential alliance breakup within the Islamist political front. Discussions with Jamaat-e-Islami and the National Conservative Party (NCP) have yet to produce an agreement, leaving the positions of influential leaders Mamunul Haque and Chormonai Pir uncertain.

Political sources indicate that dissatisfaction has grown within the alliance due to disagreements over the proposed allocation of seats. Both leaders’ supporters argue that the current distribution does not adequately reflect their organizational strength and grassroots support.

While Mamunul Haque remains an active participant in the alliance, his exact role in the upcoming elections is unclear. At the same time, Chormonai Pir's party, Islamic Movement Bangladesh, has expressed that it will not commit to the alliance without guaranteed respect and fair seat allocation.

Analysts warn that if a resolution is not reached soon, the ongoing understanding between Jamaat, NCP, and other allied parties could collapse. Such a scenario may lead to divisions within the Islamist political spectrum and affect electoral strategies.
